The Geophysics Group at the University of Ulster School of Environmental Sciences is looking for an 18 month postdoctoral researcher to work on the EU project REAKT - http://www.reaktproject.eu/. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing a hybrid Coulomb/statistical model to forecast earthquake rates. The research will involve combining information on Coulomb stress transfer and fault structure with existing statistical models such as ETAS and STEP. The new model will be applied to European seismicity and submitted to CSEP for further prospective testing.
Applicants must have a relevant research background, including experience in either Coulomb stress modelling or statistical seismology.
