In addition to supporting early stage research and development, the institute teams manage challenge-driven projects focused on application development, performance validation and integration of diverse technologies, methods and data sources.

The first of these institutes, the Containment and Monitoring Institute (CaMI) will focus on the field-based development and performance validation of a broad range of sensors, instruments and analyses approaches associated with:

  • Measurement, Monitoring and Verification (MMV) related to Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) or Enhanced Oil Recovery;
  • Monitoring associated with acid gas disposal projects;
  • and Containment verification and monitoring associated with exploration, production and stimulation activities.
