Hotels

The Eldorado Hotel and Spa will serve as headquarters for this year's annual meeting. Technical sessions, poster sessions, and attendee rooms will be shared between the El Dorado and the Hilton, immediately across a narrow street. Both hotels are two blocks from the historic Plaza in the old, downtown section of Santa Fe. This historic district offers a rich variety of restaurants, shopping, art galleries, and museums, all within easy walking distance.

Rooms at these excellent rates are available only until the room blocks are sold and the hotels will not promise to honor the special rates after March 16, even if rooms are available.

The Eldorado

The newly renovated Eldorado Hotel & Spa, a 4 diamond property, has 219 graciously appointed guest rooms and suites, decorated in the distinguished "Santa Fe Style". To reserve by phone, call (505) 988-4455. Make sure to mention that you are with the Seismological Society of America room block in order to receive the special discounted rate of $159.

To book online, visit their web site. The rate code is "06716" (if you click the link the rate code should already be entered on the form).

The Santa Fe Hilton

As of March 12th, SSA's room block of rooms at the Hilton has been sold out. Call 505-988-2811 if you need hotel information or wish to check for cancellations.

Student Housing

If you are a student and wish to share accommodations with another student, please e-mail meetings@seismosoc.org. We will put you in touch with other students who are also interested in sharing accommodations. Please make sure to include your name, gender, University and e-mail address. Your information will be shared with other students seeking shared housing.

Visa Information

International travel to meetings in the U.S.

Please be advised that anyone who may need a visa to attend a scientific meeting in the USA must apply early. Visa applicants should apply at least 3 months in advance of the meeting. Security-related policies have greatly increased the processing time for visa applications. U.S. consular officers now usually interview applicants as part of the application process.

If your visa application requires a letter of invitation, e-mail meetings@seismosoc.org.

For more information about visa, please visit the State Department's web site.

Since 26 June 2005, the State Department has required citizens from VWP countries to obtain visas if they do not have machine-readable passports and they wish to visit the U.S. One-time exemptions are no longer available to VWP nationals who do not possess a machine-readable passport or a non-immigrant visa.

Applicants will be notified of their award status by 4 January 2008, one week before the SSA deadline for abstract submission . The awards will be announced and the checks presented at the Annual Luncheon during the SSA meeting. Awardees will be the guests of SSA at this event.
