How to Get from Portland Int'l Airport to the Downtown Waterfront Marriott
If you're staying at the Courtyard Marriott (instead of the Downtown Waterfront Marriott) please see this page for or information on getting there from the airport.
Light Rail Option
Portland is a city with excellent public transportation, including a light rail system called "the MAX" that runs from the airport to the downtown area. The airport MAX station is located past Baggage Claim Carousel #1. Tickets may be purchased at kiosks at each MAX station (Note: Tickets are not taken prior to embarking or disembarking the MAX system. Instead, they are checked at random by ticket inspectors who may or may not be on your particular train. Make sure that you keep your ticket handy until after you disembark; if you are caught without a ticket, there is a hefty fine). Fares: Adult All Zone ($2.30), Youth/Student ($1.50) or Honored Citizen ($0.95). The trip takes about 50-60 minutes.
No Transfer/Longer Walk Route: If you are willing to walk .5 miles you can take the MAX train called "Red Line to City Center & Beaverton TC" (which continues as "MAX Blue Line to Hillsboro") to the Morrison/SW 3rd Ave MAX Station and walk .5 miles south to the Downtown Waterfront Marriott (1401 SW Naito Pkwy).
Shortest Walk/Requires Transfer Route:
Take the MAX "Red Line to City Center & Beaverton TC" (as above) BUT transfer at Gateway/NE 99th Ave TC MAX Station (Stop ID 8370) from MAX Red Line to MAX "Green Line westbound (to City Center/PSU)". Get off at City Hall/SW 5th & Jefferson St MAX Station.
Walk 0.25 miles southeast (downhill) along SW Jefferson Street to SW Naito Parkway. Turn right and walk 0.05 miles southwest to Downtown Waterfront Marriott hotel (1401 SW Naito Pkwy).
You can see excellent maps and schedules and plan your own trip at: http://www.trimet.org/.
