Reasons to stay at the Radisson
When you stay at the conference hotel, you not only stay at the most convenient location for the meeting, you help the Seismological Society. The hotel gives us a significant discount on our meeting rooms and food if we book a certain number of guest rooms. We base the price of meeting registration on mak- ing that number. If we don't meet the projection, SSA loses money on the meeting and our ability to serve our members is reduced. This year we have negotiated a very good room rate with complimentary in-room Internet. Of course, you can stay at other hotels nearby, but you will have to pay for parking at the Salt Palace, your room will not be as convenient, and you won't have the satisfaction of knowing that your room reservation is helping make the SSA Annual Meeting a financial success. Call 801-531-7500 to make your reservation. Be sure to mention you are with the Seismological Society of America.

If you are coming to the meeting from outside the United States, SSA recommends that you start the process of applying for a visa at least 3 months prior to the meeting. Security-related policies have greatly increased the processing time for visa applications.
Visa Waiver Program (VWP): Please note that the State Department has required citizens from VWP countries to obtain visas if they do not have machine-readable passports and they wish to visit the U.S. One-time exemptions are no longer available to VWP nationals who do not possess a machine-readable passport or a non-immigrant visa.
Letters of invitation can be requested by sending your name, address, SSA membership id number, and how you plan to participate in the meeting to firstname.lastname@example.org.If you want specific information included in your letter, please let us know. Letters are required for most visa processes.
The National Academies maintains a website about visa-related issues and travel information for U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens.
