10 C 5Y4/2 olive gray, fine to medium sand. Soil—massive. Moderately moist, loose. Sediment—massive (no lamination), single grain. Sharp contact.
10–20 Ah 10YR3/2, very dark grayish brown with many fine distinct mottles + coatings (7.5YR4/6—strong brown) medium-fine granular silty loam. Soil —medium to coarse subangular blocky structure. Moderately moist, slightly firm. Clear basal contact, wavy. Many fine and very fine roots.
20–48 C(f) 2.5Y5/2 grayish brown (matrix) with vertically aligned, 3-mm-wide, distinct mottles (2.5Y5/6 light olive brown)—10%. Silty loamy fine to medium sand. Firm. Soil structure—massive to coarse weak subangular blocky. Slightly brittle to friable. Charcoal at vertical 7.8. Clear boundary to the coarse base.
48–113 2C(g) 5Y4/2 olive gray with vertically aligned mottles (2.5Y5/6–7.5YR4/6)—30%–40% vertical. Mottles not clearly associated with roots. Silty loamy very fine sand. Sand gets coarse to the base and less loamy at ~70 cm depth from 0 horizonal. Moist to very moist. Soil—very weak subangular to massive structure. Sediment—subtle lamination, poorly sorted. Loose and friable. Few fine roots. At vertical 0, there is 4-cm-thick medium sand [2C(g)-a], well sorted. Loose and moist. Sharp boundary at base, top boundary sharp but not as much. Mottling throughout going from top; does not look like dike but fluvial.
2C 5Y4/3 olive, loose, massive fine sand. Moderately moist, single grain.
