Electronic Supplement to
SEISMOTOOL: An Easy Way to See, Listen, and Analyze Seismograms

by T. Chelidze, N. Zhukova, and T. Matcharashvili

Seismic records, executable program to process records, runtime library of the subprograms

Supplemental seismic records include hourly seismograms of the day when Tohoku strong earthquake has occurred (11.03.2011). Using Seismo.exe hourly seismograms are merged into a daily seismogram. The last one passes the high-pass band filter using seismfilt. exe application. Filtered seismograms show local triggered events, see Figures 4-7 in the article. To create spectrograms we use seismspectro.exe applications.

System requirement information: Windows platform (XP, 7, 8); 2GB RAM, CPU at least 2.4 GHz

SoundForge (ver 8-9) program is used for sonification and analysis of seismic records.

The main program Seismo is a graphical interface for seisfilt and seisspectro programs. Seismo program contains 4 panels. Each panel has parameter fields and executable button to implement operations.

Seismic records (*.dat)

Hourly seismic records [Zip Archive of Plain Text .dat Files; 18.1 MB]. Seismograms were recorded at Tbilisi Seismic Station and include the one day (11.03.2011 - Tohoku Eq)

Software

Seismo.exe [Windows Executable Program; 1.7 MB]. Seismo.exe is the main program to process seismic records and serves as a interface for background subprograms.

seisfilt.exe [Windows Executable Program; 101 KB]. seisfilt.exe is a MATLAB compiled program. It performs seismograms' filtration in a specified range of frequencies.

seisspectro.exe[Windows Executable Program; 120 KB]. seisspectro.exe is a MATLAB compiled program. It creates spectrograms using Fast Fourier transform.
