Electronic Supplement to
A Hybrid Time-Dependent Probabilistic Seismic-Hazard Model for Canterbury, New Zealand

by Matthew C. Gerstenberger, David A. Rhoades, and Graeme H. McVerry

This electronic supplement contains two parts: (1) example calibration questions and (2) the workshop documentation including the elicitation questions, which is the documentation from the two expert elicitation workshops for the New Zealand National Seismic-Hazard Model Update for Canterbury. The outcome of these workshops was the Canterbury Seismic-Hazard Model.

Example Calibration Questions and Introduction from the Elicitation Workshop

Calibration Questions [Adobe PDF; ~117 KB]. Two example calibration questions are provided in this supplement. These calibration questions are 2 of the 15 questions that were asked during the first elicitation workshop when applying the classical model. The questions are representative of the remainder of the questions, and they demonstrate the type of knowledge that is used in determining the expert weights. Additionally, we provide the documentation that was given to the experts as a basic introduction to the questions.

Expert Elicitation Questions and Introduction from the Elicitation Workshop

Elicitation Questions [Adobe PDF; ~124 KB]. Here, we provide the main documentation from each of the two workshops. This documentation contains the schedules of the two workshops and all of the questions that the experts were asked to respond to when developing the Canterbury Seismic-Hazard Model.
