Table S1. Earthquakes of magnitude ~5 and larger in and near California between 1 January 1985 and 31 December 2016. Locations are in California unless otherwise noted, and locations of events for which California Earthquake Prediction Evaluation Council (CEPEC) was convened in rapid-response mode are in bold.


Data and Resources

Origin times, hypocenters, and magnitudes are mainly from the Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS) catalog (NCEDC, 2014), except the data on Landers and Hector Mine earthquakes, which are from scedc.caltech.edu/significant/landers1992.html (last accessed May 2016) and scedc.caltech.edu/significant/hectormine1999.html (last accessed May 2016), respectively.
