This electronic supplement provides additional information for readers interested in the effects of vault construction and local site conditions on noise levels at permanent seismic stations. Figure S1 shows noise probability density functions (PDFs) of power spectral density (PSD) plots for each component of the five upgraded stations of the MM network. Information on sediment thickness is not currently available, but we have provided topographic profiles at each site in Figures S2 and S3 to assist in estimating local site conditions. Figure S4 provides a schematic of the new vaults constructed by Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES) at Hakha (HKA) and Tamu (TMU).
Figure S1. Noise PDF PSD plots for May 2016 to December 2016 for all five upgraded stations. Solid black lines indicate new low and high noise models (Peterson, 1993).
Figure S2. Topographic profiles around each station. Contour interval is 100 m.
Figure S3. Zoomed view of topographic profiles around each station. Contour interval is 50 m.
Figure S4. Schematic of seismic vaults constructed at HKA and TMU. (Pre-existing concrete structures were used at KTN, MDY, and YGN; no schematics are available for these stations).
