Special Campaign for Students, Puerto Rico

The Seismological Society of America is a non-profit organization and is seeking donations to support student travel grants for SSA members and Latin American and Caribbean Seismological Commission (LACSC), as well as funding to support the involvement of Puerto Rican scientists at the upcoming conference, “Seismology of the Americas.”

We appreciate and thank you for your contribution, which is tax deductible.

On behalf of LACSC, whose leadership is focused on recovery efforts in Puerto Rico, SSA has agreed to seek donations to support travel grants to students from Latin American and Caribbean countries. All donations will be forwarded to LACSC which will manage the process of selecting recipients.  LACSC’s goal is to raise at least $30,000.

SSA expects to receive another record-breaking number of grant requests from its student members. Support our students with travel grants to attend the SSA Annual Meeting, giving them a chance to join and advance in our community. SSA’s goal is to raise at least $30,000.

Hurricane Maria caused great devastation, with many colleagues losing everything or being forced to refocus their budgets on other priorities. SSA is raising funds to cover registration and abstract fees and lodging so that Puerto Rican scientists may fully participate in the conference.  The goal is to raise at least $25,000.
