This electronic supplement contains all sources of information on earthquakes reported in the Algerian Macroseismic Database (AMD; Table S1) and a list of the earthquakes reported in the current AMD (Table S2). Table S2 represents a static image of the AMD; the reader may consult the active files at http://naget.ictp.it/PUBLICATIONS/resources/AMD.pdf (last accessed September 2015).

Table S1. Sources of information on earthquakes reported in the Algerian Macroseismic Database (AMD).

Table S2. List of the earthquakes reported in the current Algerian Macroseismic Database. The three first columns of the table list the earthquakes (by date, time, and site) reported in the current macroseismic database. The fourth column refers to important observations identifying the event as strong, damaging, or destructive; if it is newly reported, what type of sources (primary or secondary) reported it, and how many of each source type mentioned it. The original sources of the unpublished documentary data in column 4 consist of unpublished manuscripts, contemporary accounts, administrative correspondences and reports, military records, chronicles, testimonies, newspapers, periodicals, and questionnaires—all primary sources; the source ID numbers correspond to those in Table S1. The fifth column reports the available epicentral intensity estimate, while the sixth one refers to the number of macroseismic data points (MDPs) whenever available or to the number of observation points (OPs) of each earthquake. The last column lists the most relevant studies or references on the seismic event, when available.
