Electronic Supplement to
Could Mmax Be the Same for All Stable Continental Regions?

by Kris Vanneste, Bart Vleminckx, Seth Stein, and Thierry Camelbeeck

This electronic supplement contains one table showing all data assembled from literature for the 255 stable continental region (SCR) domains and that were used to generate the synthetic earthquake catalogs used in the main article.

Table

Table S1. Data available for the 255 SCR domains, grouped by composite superdomain. ID, name, continent, maximum observed magnitude, sample size, and area are from table K-2 in NUREG-1225 (Electric Power Research Institute [EPRI] et al., 2012). Completeness regions were assigned manually according to tables 3–6 in Johnston et al. (1994), which in turn define catalog start year. The a and b-values correspond to the average recurrence parameters for the respective continents in tables 4–7 in Johnston et al. (1994), adjusted for area.
