Workshop and Field Seminar:
Know Your Noise Workshop
In this workshop, we will use seismic processing and analysis techniques including removing seismometer and other instrument responses and performing spectral analysis to interpret passive seismic data. We will explore noise content at various frequency ranges for a selection of instrument types, examining noise variations at different time scales, and identifying anthropogenic, oceanic and other environmental noises. Participants will gain familiarity with processing freely-available seismic data from EarthScope using Python tools.
The workshop will take place on Tuesday, 14 October 2025 from 4–6 PM in the Crystal Ballroom at the conference hotel.
There is no fee to register for the workshop.
Participation is limited to 35 individuals.
