Program Description
The Seismological Society of America (SSA) offers an SMS messaging program to
provide members, meeting registrants, and interested parties with timely information
including membership reminders, annual meeting announcements, submission deadlines,
society news, and other SSA-related updates. Message frequency may vary depending
on program activity.
How to Opt In
You may opt in to receive SMS messages from SSA by providing your mobile phone
number via text, and agreeing to these Terms & Conditions at the time of sign-up.
Sample Opt-In Invitation
The following is an example of the email SSA sends to registered meeting attendees inviting them to opt in to SMS alerts:
Subject: Welcome to the SSA Annual Meeting!
Welcome to the SSA Annual Meeting!
Stay informed by subscribing to text alerts about important events at our meeting. Please text START to (510) 519-3583 to sign up.
Msg & data rates may apply. We’ll be sending messages daily during the meeting.
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to (510) 519-3583.

How to Opt Out / Cancel
To stop receiving messages at any time, reply
STOP to any SSA text message.
After texting STOP, you will receive one final confirmation
message and will be unsubscribed immediately. No further messages will be sent
unless you opt back in.
To re-subscribe, reply START to any SSA text message.
