The SSA Community Grants Program

The Society provides modest grants to support its community’s efforts to advance the mission.

The SSA Community Grants Program accepts applications to support small scientific conferences, workshops and events that provide our members and future seismologists with opportunities for training, learning and networking.

Global Travel Grant

SSA’s Global Travel Grant program offers early-career and student members financial support to participate in scientific conferences and workshops anywhere in the world.

Applications are open every year in February and July. The February application period covers travel from May through October. The July application period covers travel from November through April.

Annual Meeting Travel Grant

The Annual Meeting Travel Grant offers funding to support student, early-career and international participation in the Annual Meeting. Grants include complimentary conference registration and cash to support travel and lodging.

The Paul Andrew Spudich Travel Grant

The Paul Andrew Spudich Travel Grant program honors the late seismologist Paul Andrew Spudich by supporting travel for SSA student and early-career members who have a research focus on earthquake source physics or ground motion prediction. Applications are open every year in February and July.

Government Relations Policy Fellowship

The SSA Government Relations Policy Fellowship enables participants to gain knowledge of the policy processes that impact seismology and experience serving as a committee member on the Government Relations Committee (GRC).

Fellows are chosen by the SSA Government Relations Committee, who consider a range of factors to reflect the diverse SSA community.
