14 January 2021–SSA announced the election results from the 8 January 2021 election, conducted by YesElections, formerly known as Election America.
Three new members will join the board for three-year terms, and one board member was re-elected to a second term:
- Karen Fischer, Brown University
- Zhigang Peng, Georgia Institute of Technology
- Xyoli Pérez-Campos, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México
- Carl Tape, University of Alaska Fairbanks
Their terms will begin on 13 April 2021, and they will join these continuing board members for the 2021-22 year:
- Annemarie Baltay, U.S. Geological Survey
- Susan Bilek, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology
- Heather DeShon, Southern Methodist University
- Hiroshi Kawase, Kyoto University
- Kuo-Fong Ma, National Central Univerity
- Meghan S. Miller, Australian National University
- Kate Scharer, U.S. Geological Survey
- John Townend, Victoria University of Wellington
- Bill Walter, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Currently, Bill Walter serves as the president of the Society and will be succeeded by John Townend, who will begin his term as president on 13 April.
