We are seeking motivated MSc (or PhD) students to study seismic hazard assessment and mapping for Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. The student(s) will be part of a team working to quantify, understand and predict earthquake shaking, including liquefaction and slope stability, to develop seismic hazard maps for Metro Vancouver. This is a unique graduate opportunity – study geology or geophysics at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, but also spend one month in Vancouver, British Columbia during summer field campaigns.
Strong academic applicants with an undergraduate degree in geology, geophysics, environmental (geo)science, geological engineering, or civil (geotechnical) engineering are suitable. Experience in analysis of large datasets and scientific analysis software such as Python or Matlab is an asset. For further information, contact Dr. Hadi Ghofrani at email@example.com.
