Serves as a technical/scientific resource to DTRA to survey emerging nuclear explosion monitoring technologies, identify candidate technologies for further advancement, and guide the development through demonstration in a relevant environment to integration into operations. Directly operates and sustains 13 of the U.S. IMS waveform stations (7 Infrasound, 1 Primary Seismic, and 5 Auxiliary Seismic monitoring stations) in accordance with USG CTBT policy and CTBTO technical requirements as identified in CTBTO Waveform Operating Manuals and PrepCom communications.
Works on advanced, complex technical projects that require state of the art technical or industry knowledge on subjects such as mechanics, fluid mechanics, quantum mechanics, geology, optics, acoustics, electricity, pneumatics, magnetism, and electromagnetic and particle radiation. Uses, maintains, tests, and develops mathematical and scientific models to study complex systems. Resolves highly complex technical issues, conducts advanced engineering research, and recommends alterations to development and design. Prepares technical documentation and presentations to explain the approach, associated assumptions and conclusions of scientific investigations. Integrates and coordinates work within the department and other departments. Responsible for risk management and quality control efforts. Applies technical expertise directly to work efforts.
Experience and Degree: Bachelor’s degree in a Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or related field.
8+ years related experience in an engineering or scientific function, including research.
Demonstrated success in engineering programs or projects.
Experience with preparation of technical documentation and presentations to explain the approach, associated assumptions, conclusions, and recommendations of scientific investigations.
Secret Clearance with ability to get a TS/SCI and maintain it during time of employment.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
