We undertake these activities as part of the larger National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP), a four-agency partnership established by Congress.
As a Geophysicist within the Natural Hazards Mission Area – Earthquake Hazards Program, you will work within an eight-person program office, helping to provide scientific, programmatic, and management leadership and oversight of the Program’s earthquake hazards and risk assessments, and of targeted research on earthquake physics, occurrence, effects, and forecasting. Specific duties will include:
- Working with Senior Science Advisor for Earthquake and Geologic Hazards and EHP staff to oversee the program’s activities, and to develop, communicate and implement strategies, policies, and priorities of the program.
- Interacting with EHP-supported scientists and projects within the USGS, with externally supported researchers and research centers, and with a variety of partner, stakeholder, and user organizations and groups.
